Families Helping Families
Families Helping Families
What is the Extended Family Network?
Being community based, individuals and families mutually support for each other through friendship and help each other. Families helping families become part of an Extended Family Network in their local community.
The project was started by Dr John Bellavance, a teacher, speaker and author – www.drjohn.online and vice-president UPF Australia www.upf.org
Why Do We Need Extended Family Network?
Due to changes in the composition and structure of families, individuals find it increasingly difficult to get support normally given by their own family. Support from informal networks can help families meet the challenges they face.
What will the Extended Family Networks Do?
Members will mutually support for each other through friendship and help. Physical assistance could include: gardening, maintenance, cleaning, painting, etc. The support provided in local networks will depend on the abilities and time of members. Educational materials will be provided by Extended Family Network such as marriage enrichment, personal coaching, personal development in the areas of parenting, values education and educating youth.
How Can I Get Involved?
An Extended Family Network starts with families that want to connect with others in their community.
