Families Supporting Each Other

What is the Extended Family Network?

Being community based, individuals and families mutually support for each other through friendship and physical assistance. Families helping families become part of an Extended Family Network in their local community.

Why Do We Need Extended Family Networks?

Due to changes in the composition and structure of families, individuals find it increasingly difficult to get support normally given by their own family. Support from informal networks can help families meet the challenges they face.

What will the Extended Family Networks Do?

Members will mutually support for each other through friendship and physical assistance. Physical assistance could include: gardening, maintenance, cleaning, painting, etc. The support provided in local networks will depend on the abilities and time of members. Educational materials will be provided by the partner organisations such as marriage enrichment, personal coaching, personal development in the areas of parenting, values education, etc.
